Activation Steps
Connect Device
Connect your Ledger device to your computer using the USB cable. Press both buttons simultaneously to power it on.
Install Ledger Live
Download and install Ledger Live application on your computer or mobile device. This is your gateway to managing your crypto.
Initialize Setup
Follow the on-screen instructions in Ledger Live to initialize your device. Select "Set up as new device" to begin.
PIN Setup Guidance
Choose a Secure PIN Code
Your PIN must be 4-8 digits long. Choose a code that's memorable to you but difficult for others to guess. Avoid simple sequences like 1234 or repeating numbers.
Enter Your PIN Twice
Use the device buttons to navigate and select each digit. You'll need to enter your PIN twice to confirm. Press both buttons to validate each digit.
Keep It Private
Never share your PIN with anyone. After 3 incorrect attempts, your device will reset for security. Store your PIN in a secure location separate from your device.
Recovery Phrase Instructions
Critical: Your Recovery Phrase is Everything
This 24-word phrase is the ONLY way to recover your crypto if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged. Ledger will NEVER ask for your recovery phrase. Anyone with access to it can steal your funds.
✓ DO
- •Write down all 24 words on the provided Recovery Sheet
- •Double-check each word for accuracy
- •Store your Recovery Sheet in a secure, fireproof location
- •Consider using a metal backup for long-term storage
- •Keep multiple copies in separate secure locations
✗ DON'T
- •Take a photo or screenshot of your recovery phrase
- •Store it digitally on your computer or phone
- •Share it with anyone, including Ledger support
- •Enter it on any website or application
- •Skip the verification step during setup
Verification Step
After writing down your 24 words, your Ledger device will ask you to confirm them in a random order. This ensures you've recorded them correctly. Take your time with this step.
Pro tip: Number each word on your Recovery Sheet (1-24) to make verification easier.
